Experience
My undergraduate (UCLA) and graduate (San Francisco State) degrees in philosophy were highly writing-intensive and instilled a very strong sense of critical and analytical thinking. During my time as a grad student at SFSU, I taught many courses to college undergrads: Critical Thinking, Introduction to Philosophy, Philosophy and Religion, Ethics, etc. I always received exceptional (if not perfect) student evaluations, most often for my energetic teaching style and ability to engage my students. I am almost done with my second graduate degree at Florida Atlantic University (biology). I am currently teaching labs in the biological sciences department at FAU (Anatomy and Physiology, at the moment), and have been consistently receiving similarly exceptional evaluations from my students. I have been teaching non-stop since the summer of 2009 (almost 6 years). Teaching is very much my passion. The most rewarding aspect for me is the "ah-ha" moment when a student finally, and fully, understands the material being presented. There's no greater feeling as a teacher. I am an exceptionally effective tutor for all of my subjects listed above. My teaching experience has fostered within me a strong empathic ability, to recognize what is and isn't working for a student, to present the material in such a way that it truly resonates with THEM, not just what makes sense to ME. This is, I believe, the hardest thing to find in a teacher/tutor. My teacher training: I took three courses of "Projects in Teaching" at SFSU. I also went through Kaplan's extensive teacher training program for the SATs in 2011. Fun note: I'm actually in a lab studying dolphin behavior and communication. We work out in the Bahamas in the summer, swimming with wild dolphins, studying their behaviors, personalities, and ultimately trying to decode their language. It's an amazing research project, and very much on the cutting edge of behavioral and communication science.

Hobbies
Hobbies: I'm a marathoner! Currently training for my 6th race, Ft. Lauderdale in mid-February. I recently got my level 1 freediving certificate (66 feet down!), and love all water sports (but who doesn't!). I love to be out in the outdoors. I'm a big fan of hiking (or at least I was before moving to this flat state!), and go on a few backpacking trips a year with close friends.
